Message to St.Amant Families – December 4, 2020

December 4, 2020

Dear St.Amant Families,
This week, we have had two people supported and two staff test positive for Covid-19 in the Community Residential Program and one person supported and one staff test positive within Health & Transition Services. Our team is calm and prepared for these situations and I’m very proud of the quick and efficient teamwork that has occurred over the past few days. Our priority is always on compassion and support for the people we are supporting – ensuring that they are not scared, that they feel cared for and that they are not alone – even if they need to self-isolate from other people supported.
Additionally, our team is focused on infection prevention and control. All programs have plans in place to address a potential Covid positive case and both the CRP and H&TS deployed their Covid response plans quickly and efficiently. Our teams are working closely with our own Occupational Health department, Public Health and our funders to ensure that every measure we can take to prevent the spread of the illness is underway. I feel confident that we are doing everything we can to keep your family members safe.
I want to remind all families that if your family member is deemed a close or medium contact of someone who has Covid-19, you will receive a phone call from your program management to let you know. You will be aware within hours of our team having the information.
Even as we continue to support these teams through these positive cases, there is lots of other work happening that is focused on supporting meaningful ways to spend our days during Code Red, keeping everyone safe and happy as we are all trying hard to do. We are equally focused on supporting our staff and their wellbeing, so they can continue to bring quality and excellence to their role every day.
Thank you for your ongoing support and feedback. It takes a whole village to get through challenging times and we are so grateful that we’re in this all together.
John Leggat
President & CEO, St.Amant
