Health & Transition Services: On-site Visitation Update

June 24, 2021

Dear Health & Transition Services Families,
On-site Visitation Update – Effective June 24, 2021
With high vaccination rates among our residents and staff, and in the community, we are so pleased to be able to offer expanded social visitation for our fully immunized residents and their fully immunized visitors.
This will include the ability for general visitors to visit residents, indoors in our visitation suite or within the resident’s room for end of life situations. In addition, where physical distancing can be maintained, more than one visitor at a time may also be present. Please check with us to confirm whether this is possible for visits with your loved one.
Please note, this change will take effect June 24, 2021. Please contact us on or after June 24, 2021 for information or to book a visit.
Fully immunized residents and visitors are those who have received both doses (any combination) of the COVID-19 vaccine (AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna), OR a single dose of an approved single dose COVID-19 vaccine (Janssen/Johnson & Johnson) and whose second dose (or approved sole dose) was received more than 14 days before the planned visit. Both the resident and the visitor(s) must meet these criteria, visits must be scheduled and visitors will be required to demonstrate proof of full immunization and photo identification before entry. Designated Family Caregivers may visit anytime between 9am – 9pm in their family member’s room. No appointment is necessary unless they prefer to visit in the visitation suite, co-visitation shelter or outdoors.
Please note: vaccination status only applies to general visitors. There is no change for designated family caregivers.
We know the last number of months have been difficult and have required limits on social visits and interaction. We look forward to welcoming fully vaccinated visitors back into our facility and we know you and our residents will be excited by this small step toward “normal” too.
As we slowly expand visitation, we must all continue to take every possible precaution to protect the health of your loved ones. All visitors will continue to be screened before entry, masks and eye protection must be worn, and anyone with symptoms of COVID-19 will not be admitted.
We will regularly review opportunities to improve and will learn as we go. We are grateful for your continued cooperation and patience
Sincerely,
Sarah Mankelow
Director, H&TS
