Update to Health & Transition Services – February 26

February 26, 2021

Dear Health & Transition Services Families,

This Monday is an important day as the first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine will be administered to eligible people supported at Health & Transition Services. Everything has been prepped and there are feelings of hope and optimism as we take another step on the long path out of this pandemic. Dedicated staff will observe people post vaccine and will notify you of any side effects in your loved ones. We have learned from the clinics at Personal Care Homes that side effects are minimal, infrequent, and mainly include a sore arm.

While the vaccine is vital to protecting everyone, it doesn’t change anything in regards to the fundamentals of keeping everyone, and yourselves safe. Distancing, wearing your masks and eye protection when visiting, practicing good hand hygiene, staying home when mildly sick, and following public health orders are crucial. Diligence is still a top priority!

On Tuesday, March 2, our Asymptomatic Testing Clinic opens for staff. The clinic will be open at different dates and times to ensure we reach every shift. The testing is voluntary but we are encouraging all eligible staff to participate to help prevent, and respond quickly to any future outbreaks. Our outbreak status ends on March 6. The vaccine and testing clinic are additional tools in our continued fight against COVID-19.
Stay safe and thank you for your support.

Director, Health & Transition Services
