COVID Positive Staff within Health & Transition Services (May 10, 2021)

May 10, 2021

Dear Health & Transition Services Families,
We have become aware of a single COVID-19 positive case in a staff member on Child and Young Adult Health Services West (CYAHS-W). The employee is isolating at home and is doing well. In accordance with the current Shared Health definition, a single case will not be considered a COVID-19 Outbreak.
PPE was worn correctly, and all of the people supported by this employee have received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and therefore are not considered high risk contacts.
We will continue to monitor people supported in the area closely, and you will be contacted if your loved one develops any symptoms and requires a test for COVID-19. Out of an abundance of caution, we have cancelled all visits for today and tomorrow to give our Occupational Health Team and Infection Prevention Control Nurse time to complete their risk assessments. Visits may resume once this process is complete.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
Sarah Mankelow
Director, Health & Transition Services
