New wheelchair glider at 440 River Road

September 26, 2018

There’s nothing like the feeling of wind on your face and the soothing sway of a swing. Thanks to the initiative of Ace Burpee and the generosity of Quintex Services and Superior Asphalt Paving, people who use a wheelchair will now be able to enjoy an inclusive glider at St.Amant.
“We are super excited to see this all come together. A swing should be enjoyed by everybody and I hope it brings smiles for years to come,” said Ace Burpee, 103.1 Virgin Radio.
Recreation and building friendships can be one of the biggest challenges faced by people with disabilities. An inclusive community brings opportunity for people with disabilities to spend time with friends and family in different, interesting places while actively taking part in recreation.
“We’re excited to be a part of fulfilling this need in our community. We hope many families will enjoy the time spent together on this wheelchair glider, the first of its kind in Winnipeg. Our entire team at Quintex is proud to jump on board to support one of Ace’s many community initiatives,” said David Quinton, President of Quintex Services.
The new wheelchair glider accommodates one wheelchair and 2 adults to glide together.
“St.Amant Foundation is so grateful to Ace Burpee and his team at Virgin Radio for acknowledging and championing accessibility and inclusion in our community,” said Juliette Mucha, Director of St.Amant Foundation.
St.Amant has placed the new wheelchair glider in the front of its property at 440 River Road so that it’s accessible to anyone walking and exploring the area to use, particularly our neighbours at Action Marguerite.
“Superior Asphalt Paving Co. has worked with St.Amant Foundation for many, many years. We love being able to give back to the community and support a foundation that is so beneficial to families and individuals that require their service,” said Howard Bloomfield, Director of Sales & Marketing for Superior Asphalt Paving.
