Update to St.Amant Families – February 5

February 5, 2021

Dear St.Amant Families:
The days are getting longer and even though the cold has descended on us this week, with the sun shining, everything feels more optimistic! The province has shared another preview of services and businesses that may open next week along with another survey. If you feel strongly about the order of reopening you can take the survey here.
We had news this week that Child Care employees and Autism Programs employees who work in direct support will be able to access the COVID-19 rapid testing site starting next week. This is great news that will help us keep everyone safe while helping to maintain staffing resources.
This week we had three new cases of COVID-19, two within the Community Residential Program – one staff and one person we support, and one employee in the Autism Programs. All contact tracing has been completed and everyone is recovering well. Big thanks to the employees in the Community Residential Program for their flexibility in supporting both the regular home and the home being used for quarantine.
We continue to wait on clarity around vaccine schedules for both people supported at Health & Transition Services and in the community. The delays all seem to be related to vaccine supply at this time, however we are keeping the lines of communication open to ensure that we are not forgotten once vaccine is available.
Personal Protective Equipment continues to be our biggest ally in ensuring we keep everyone safe. We are very grateful to our employees for their clear commitment to using their PPE appropriately every single shift – definitely a demonstration of their incredible dedication.
I hope everyone has a safe and restful weekend!
