Update to St.Amant Families – January 21, 2022

January 21, 2022

Dear St.Amant Families,
At the end of this week, we are cautiously optimistic as we see COVID-19 cases slowly coming down within our organization and our sick rate lowering as a result. We are hopeful that the peak of this latest wave is gradually coming to an end for St.Amant.
This week, St.Amant reported 46 cases of COVID-19 in employees and 12 in people we support. For staff we have: Three in the Autism Programs, four in Clinical Services, 20 in Community Residential Program, one in Community Services, one in Human Resources, 14 in Health and Transition Services and three in Operations. For people we support we have: two in the Autism Programs, seven in the Community Residential Program, two in Community Services and one in Health and Transition Services.
I’m pleased to announce that St.Amant school will be reopening on Monday January 24. A big thank you to St.Amant School staff who showed kindness and compassion while supporting the CRP throughout the school closure, I truly appreciate your flexibility in ensuring the people we support had quality care throughout another uncertain time. I want to extend my gratitude to school staff who will be continuing to support the CRP during this transitional time.
St.Amant is hosting another COVID-19 vaccine clinic for children 5-11 years old on Friday, February 4 & Saturday, February 5. All children are welcome but this clinic is intended to prioritize children with autism, developmental disabilities, or who face barriers to receiving the COVID-19 vaccine elsewhere. For many, this is an opportunity to receive a second dose if it has been eight weeks since their first one. Family and friends of people supported are welcome to book an appointment at our booster clinic happening the same weekend.
We want to encourage you to please get your booster shot when you are able to do so, the RBC Convention Centre is now offering walk-in vaccines- no appointment necessary.
Thank you for your continued care in following public health recommendations and keeping your loved ones safe.
Wishing you a warmer week ahead,
John
