St.Amant Foundation Receives Youth In Philanthropy Grants

May 27, 2016

The St.Amant Foundation received two Youth in Philanthropy (YiP) grants last week from committees made up of high school students.
Students from Dakota Collegiate gave $500 for recreational services and $671 was given by John Taylor Collegiate towards an accessible vehicle.
YiP is designed to introduce motivated young people to philanthropy and local community development. The program gives hands-on experience working as a team and with local charitable organizations.
In September, schools/organizations form YiP committees and each committee receives $5,000 from The Winnipeg Foundation to distribute to charities of their choice. As a committee they decide on their areas of focus, goals and criteria. They research charities that meet their criteria and learn more about what they do by visiting them and interviewing people who work there.
There are many great organizations in the city to partner with and the St.Amant Foundation is grateful to both committees for their grants.
