Thanks to this funding, St.Amant will pilot a new, specialized pediatric sensory feeding therapy program for kids! In Canada, over 89% of children with lived experience of disability or autism exhibit a Pediatric Feeding Disorder, which can contribute to decreased functionality and social stigma and cause serious health problems such as malnutrition.
Thanks to this funding, we can fill a critical gap in providing feeding therapy services for children. This sensory-based therapy involves lots of fun and play for children in a comfortable environment. This pilot program will help children learn to eat a variety of textures and flavours and develop healthy eating habits in a group setting, which will ultimately help with the overall well-being and quality of life of children.
St.Amant will share more information about this pilot program as soon as it becomes available.
The second grant received from Réseau Compassion Network is to support almost fifty of our community homes to take part in a kitchen composting pilot program.
Thanks to this funding, the people we support through the Community Residential Program will have the opportunity to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. We estimate that 4 kilograms of waste will be diverted from the landfill each week, which equals over 10,000 kilograms annually!
Staff and the people we support will receive training, and each home will receive composting bins and weekly pick-up through Compost Winnipeg. Piloting this program will create meaningful opportunities for the people we support and have a long-term, positive impact on landfills and the environment.
Thank you, Réseau Compassion Network, for making these two pilot programs possible!
