Update to St.Amant Families – June 18, 2021

June 18, 2021

Dear St.Amant Families,
For the first time in a long while, everyone we support and all staff have recovered from Covid-19! That is definitely cause for celebration. We are very proud and grateful to all of the staff who have worked so hard in all residential and front line areas to ensure that everyone is safe.
I’m pleased to extend an invitation to our on-site vaccine clinic next week.  If you or your family member is in need and eligible for a first or second Covid-19 vaccine, please book an appointment for our drive-thru vaccine clinic at 440 River Road through this online booking system. Our goal is to support people who are facing barriers to accessing the super-sites and to do everything we can to help keep our community safe – we welcome you and your family. Clinic hours are Monday June 21 – Friday June 25, from Noon – 8:00 pm.
UPDATE: The clinic is fully booked! Thank you! There is very limited drop-in for people with barriers to accessing larger sites.
The vaccine clinic at St.Amant will be a safe and welcoming space where people can receive the vaccine in the comfort of their vehicle. When you turn in to the drive-way, we will have volunteers to direct you exactly where to go. When we meet you at our welcome stop, we will ask if you have everything you need. If you need help filling in the paperwork, or if you weren’t able to bring a consent form, we’ll have them there. You will either be directed to move forward to the vaccine area, or if you’re a little early, or need some time to get your paperwork in order we’ll ask you to park in a parking lot and we will have volunteers there to help as needed.
Once you drive in to the vaccine area, there will be an accessible porta-potty available. During some parts of each day we are aiming to have therapy dogs on site and we’ll have lots of people to help anyone who is feeling a little nervous or a lot anxious! It’s our goal to help people receive the vaccine with as much support as needed. If it’s easier to get out of the vehicle, we’ll have an area where you can receive the vaccine outside. If you require somewhere to lie down, we can also accommodate a private indoor vaccine with a space to lie down.
Our vaccines are Moderna, so we can’t vaccinate anyone under 18, but we know that you may have children with you and we also know 15 or 30 minutes can feel like a long time for anyone! We are preparing some small activities you can do while in the vehicle after the vaccine. We’ll also have bottled water and a post-vaccine treat for everyone. While you wait we’ll have people walking around outside of the waiting vehicles observing in case any support is needed. There will be lots of nurses and pharmacists and medical professionals on site to answer any questions or respond to any needs.
We hope that everyone who is eligible and still needs a first or second dose will be able to receive it.
Again, thanks to everyone for doing your part to keep yourselves, our community and our province safe. I hope you have a great weekend.

Message from the CEO

Hi everyone! Here’s my monthly message. We talk a lot about culture at St.Amant – the values and customs, the ways of being and of treating one another, year after year, that make St.Amant such a special place. Last month brought reminders of a simple fact: culture comes from people making their values real in […]
