On behalf of Sarah Mankelow, Director of Health and Transition Services, this message outlines our new guideline for items entering 440 River Road.
—
On behalf of the whole Health & Transition Services (H&TS) team, I want to thank all staff who have changed their work location, modified their work routines (including changing clothes, disinfecting personal items, arriving earlier to be screened). I know there have been a lot of changes and everyone has done an incredible job of prioritizing the safety and wellbeing of the people receiving services through H&TS and the front line staff working here. We truly appreciate your support and flexibility.
We know that many staff have been ordering in take out while at 440 River Road (main building) or have received gifts/flowers from loved ones or family members of the people you support. We have received additional direction from Manitoba Shared Health about what kinds of items can enter long term care facilities.
Effective immediately, we can no longer accept or bring in the following items:
- Plants or flowers
- Cards or paper
- Soft toys
- Food or drink in paper bags or cups, cardboard boxes, or other soft surfaced containers
We can accept or bring food in tins, plastic containers or other hard surfaced materials that can be easily wiped. We can also continue to accept toys that can be wiped down, electronic devices, and any item in a sealed, wipeable package.
If you have any questions, please contact your manager.
Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding as we do our best to follow recommendations and keep everyone safe.
