Improving Access to Autism Services

June 18, 2018

St.Amant is pleased to announce that with support from the provincial government, we are making changes to decrease wait times for children to access the Early Learning Program and offer services to more pre-school and school-aged children.
Eligibility to access the Early Learning Program remains the same and is outlined on our website.
The key changes include:
Beginning in September 2018, new entrants to the Early Learning Program will receive 20 hours a week of service, delivered in a St.Amant classroom or childcare centre. These changes mean that we can nearly double our current capacity. Another key reason for making these changes is to give children the opportunity to access services for a longer period of time. Specifically, children will be able to participate in the program until the September of the year they turn six or until they receive up to a maximum of two years of services, whichever comes first.
Beginning in September 2019, the School-Age Learning Program will be absorbed into the Consultative Services. With this change, we will continue to accept referrals from schools and will expand to accept referrals directly from families who would benefit from supports at home until high school graduation. We are committed to sharing more information about the home referrals as details become available closer to its launch date of September 2019.
We are looking forward to serving more children and their families as we move forward and are committed to continually evaluating and improving our programs and service delivery.
